In the book The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare there is a female named Kathrine and a man named Petruchio. At the begining of the book we see that the Taming of the Shrew is a play within a play, I thought that it was interesting. So once The Taming of the Shrew starts you see that Kathrine is very blunt and she says what she wants when she wants(I love her character!!). Although, her younger sister Bianca does what she is told when she is told and is what a lady of that time should be. There are many men in love with Bianca and none with Kathrine. Two men who are in love with Bianca say that they will find a man to marry Kathrine because the girls father says that Kathrine must be married before Bianca can be married. So they find a man, who’s name is Petruchio. He said he would marry her because he wants her dowery, and he can tam her. So when he shows up to their wedding he is dressed as a poor fithy slob. He takes Kathrine back to his home and does not give her anything that she Needs nor wants. He does not let her sleep, eat, go out or even drink; he teases her with clothing by showing it to her and not letting her have it.
What I am supposed to write about is the similarities from this book and the song “Under My Thumb” by Rolling Stones. In the song it mentions how “the girl who once had me down” ”the girl who once pushed me around.” The difference is that Kathrine never got the chance to put Petruchio down or make him mad nor sad.
